My background is not in LIS but all my staffers were MSLIS grads. They all liked the work, esp the mission to deliver <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/OpenAccess" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OpenAccess</span></a>. But at the same time, they reported that library schools barely taught these topics. They had to learn/create their jobs on the job. That was not a problem. In fact, it was part of the adventure. But LIS students should know this going in. I stepped down 3 yrs ago, and can't say whether or how much this might have changed.<br>(2) ScholComm offices tend to be seriously underfunded — if not relative to the library budget, then at least relative to the goals they're expected to achieve.</p>
