But I still used it to write to him to ask, "Don't you think the obvious thing is for the left to unite internationally and leverage mass labor and economic power to insist on the institution of a real Global Surplus Recycling Mechanism at the IMF and World Bank now, like John Keynes originally proposed at Bretton Woods?"</p><p>Quickly, and apparently without much thought, he replied that the IMF and World Bank were dictatorial and not worth our focus in confronting the rise of fascism. You've known & can trust your friends already. There's none of the risk associated with recruiting strangers.</p><p>2. Actually seeing a banner in person is much more effective than seeing a protest on-screen from somewhere else because you can de-spell the meme that "nothing like that could happen here." Your friends are your true underground network. The internet can augment that, but any insurgent will tell you that local support makes outside occupation costly at best, really all but impossible.</p><p>4. You can put pressure on the small, local supporters of the right-wing, like problematic businesses right there in your own town or neighborhood. Amazon sucks but unless you rub elbows in certain social circles, Bezos is an abstract target. However, *you* can make the Nazis at Johnny's Bar afraid to come out for a drink. All resources are ultimately localized resources.</p><p>5. You & your friends have a creativity & flexibility that cannot be found in online echo-chambers. During public comment, reiterate how much you value:</p><p> A. The district remaining a safe and welcoming place for queer and trans students.</p><p> B. The school district not cooperating with ICE.</p><p> C. The school continuing to teach accurate representations of U.S. history, multiculturalism and respect for all students’ backgrounds.</p><p>24. When you wonder “what right do I have to go to a school board if my topic isn’t on the agenda” remember those Moms For Liberty who caused all of that school board chaos a few summers ago… what right did they have to do so? Ms. Que Banh<p>I don't care how many protest events you've been to, I don't care if you've spent time at blockades & got arrested either, don't care how much content you post online about caring about the environment IF -> you still choose to fly all over Canada for leisurely trips & when not flying everywhere, you choose to drive all across BC & across Canada, you choose to overconsume material items & create more unnecessary waste - you are part of the problems & not really a part of the solutions.</p><p>The above listed selfish human behaviours are not what any serious environmentalist engages in. It's what performative folks engage in - they film themselves multiple times daily to get views online on multiple sites. Their self worth is tied to their online life/likes. I do not enjoy being around high hypocrisy, dishonest, self absorbed, irresponsible people like that & avoid them as much as possible. I tend to adhere tightly to my standards of association & don't let unsavory selfish folks stay around me. I oust them fast & have not felt bad about it.
