So the Japanese illustrators have been migrating from Xitter to Bluesky, and there's been a bunch of people reporting all the loli posts as CSAM, even if it's really just innocent cute anime girl art, not swimsuits or whatnot, and making all their posts about their crusade to stop this.

Because they keep calling anime watchers pedos, it's been me with a mini ban-hammer playing whack-a-mole with these accounts every few days.

The worst part is, they actually get followers, likes and reposts, so their posts rise when using a 'engagement' sort instead of chronological. Which makes it easier for me to whack-a-mole them, but it's just destroying the quality of feed.

So this is the third time I've had to block a user who end up on my anime custom feed with a post on Bluesky about "why so much anime here, why isn't this place good for musicians" (edited).

It's because the site still doesn't support video properly unless it's a YouTube or other compatible external link. The dev team isn't interested in that direction at all. Big musicians aren't there yet, but anime...

Anyway, I'll explain why there's so many 'why so much anime' posts. They just opened public registration. Some big Japanese anime artists are migrating from Xitter and are pulling their fanbase, so loli girls in swimsuits get 1000s of likes now.

New users are automatically subscribed to 'Discover', a feed that takes the whole network's most engaged posts. New users also have their subscribed feeds blend into their 'Home' feed by default, instead of just followed, so they're shown that immediately.

BlueSky is currently wonky due to some PostGres database issues. Oh well, time to work on something else.
So much for 'federation'.

Edit: Aaand, it's fixed. That took long, they broke it a few hours ago.

It never ceases to amaze me how hard people shit on Mastodon. This post is from Bluesky, but like, I have used Twitter, Bluesky, and Mastodon and I find Mastodon to be the EASIEST out of all of them.

On Mastodon I don't worry about my post text limit. I type until I am satisfied. On Bluesky I have to carefully craft my words so they make sense but still fit in an arbitrary character count of 300.

Also Bluesky doesn't have:
DMs
Hashtags
Pinned posts
GIFs or video support
Post editing
And more!

So like, where is the competition? I don't understand why they think it is hard. I open Mastodon just like Twitter and post just like Twitter. It isn't any more of a hassle than any other program, in fact the character limit makes it less of a hassle. I feel like the mental gymnastics are strong here.

Someone publicly posted a git about some of the security issues with Bsky that I spoke about more than a month ago but did not really want to elaborate on.

It's not me, and it's out in the open, (floating around on Reddit) so boost away, until they actually want to fix it.
