At 322 PM PDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located near La Grange, or 18 miles north of Atwater, moving east
at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage
to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is
likely.

This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
western Mariposa, southwestern Tuolumne and north central Merced
Counties.

Instructions
TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.

MRMS low level rotation detection shows where the funnel cloud was likely tracking. Unconfirmed if it touched down or not. If so, this would be the 4th tornado in California this year. #CAwx

A little early for #silentSunday but the snow is still pretty!

#ForkedMeadow has about four feet of snow on the ground now and the next storm is coming in on Sunday night with another half foot or more expected.

Currently it's 14f after an overnight low of 12f.

California’s coldest storm system of the winter approaches, as atmospheric river takes aim

A major winter storm, fueled by a renewed atmospheric river, will bring heavy rain and mountain snow to both Northern and Southern California on Wednesday and Thursday.

Heavy rain and gusty winds will impact Wednesday’s commute around the Bay Area, while several feet of snow will begin piling up in the Sierra, including Tahoe.

#ForkedMeadow #California received around 8-8.5 inches of precipitation with the #atmosphericRiver that just finished up. There's about a foot of snow on the ground from the tail end of the storm.

That puts us up to about 27 or 28 inches for the water year. We need at least 35 inches to have an average year and we really need at least 45 inches to make a dent in the water deficit from the drought.
