Calvin's mother leads Susie away saying, "Would you care for a snack, Susie?" Susie is a bit shy, "Um, OK thank you." Meanwhile Calvin is arguing with Hobbes, "Well? What have you got to say for yourself?" Hobbes adjusts his tie and says, "When one is entertaining female friends, one should try not to look quite as seedy as certain unnamed parties habitually do." Calvin doesn't get it, "Who's entertaining?? Who's a female friend? Who looks seedy?!" Hobbes continues, "A spotted tie is just the thing when you're wearing stripes! Tigers have a natural flair for casual chic!" Calvin is incensed, "I can't believe this! Why didn't you kill her when she came in the door?!" Hobbes replies, "By the way, if you had made proper introductions, we might have smooched her hand." Calvin resorts to brute force, "Here, let me adjust the narrow end of your tie about eight inches."
