The first in office appointment with my new family doctor has just been booked for this Friday morning. I have the first appointment of the day & the doctor has assured me that he & staff will be masked up, as I've requested
I tend to ask for first slot of the morning when booking medical appointments - to avoid running into a bunch of unmasked patients in waiting rooms.
I'll be asking if he will consider taking on my youngest brother as a new patient too because that bro still doesn't have a family doctor. He's been on the government waitlist for 2+ years.
I'm off to get mammogram now & then working on updating client files all afternoon. Remote(safer) work today
Only me & 4 other #CovidCautious colleagues who never let up on #CovidSafety have not called in sick for over 2 years. All our other colleagues have taken multiple sick leaves & some developed long covid disabilities & can't return to work anymore. Yet, the majority of folks are still opting to play the #covid Russian roulette games.
For well over a month now i have had eye floaters disturbing my visual field. Yet i do not find the courage to contact my doctor. Those discussions re: #COVIDsafety, i can't even imagine how i might brave them.
It is a lonely life with so much #LongCOVID and so little support.
4 years ago. When I had white & blue hair. Wearing N95 mask under sequin fabric mask.
My vivid hair colours were done by a friend, Kate, who works at The Old Hat Hair Shoppe, in downtown #VictoriaBC :

I’m running last year’s C-R Box fan up in the loft where I’m holed up when Matt’s home. There’s a second whole-house size air purifier running on the main floor. On the ground floor, where Matt has been hanging out, there’s a 600sqft purifier with an internal UV light.
When I go down to the main floor while he’s home, I make sure he’s downstairs & I mask. When he goes up to the main floor, he makes sure I’m upstairs & masks.
So far, he’s still testing negative.
#VictoriaBC area!

The day before yesterday, I was walking down the street with my mask on.
A total stranger stopped me to ask very sarcastically if "there is a reason we should be wearing masks".
They were clearly hoping I would engage in conflict with them and I refused to, but it still was pretty upsetting.
While I was walking away, they said to someone at the crosswalk, "can you believe this?" And for a moment, they turned and tried to engage me AGAIN.
This was quite alarming - but somehow, it gets worse.
Happy to report 4 out of 9 people in pharmacy line up wore masks. Unhappy to report 1 pharmacist out of 6 were wearing masks. London Drugs, Tillicum location in #Saanich.
All large Summer #conventions, with mass crowds & zero #CovidSafety masking policies, are basically plague spreader parties & people going to them will be on the sick folks list in September.
FYI - These are the kind of emails I send out to #medical facilities that I have to go to. I don't fucking play around!
I ordered the Blue Air Pure 211 air purifier for my client who is moving to small private suite & it should arrive at their place this week.

Being on Mastodon has restored so much of my lost faith in humanity, more than once. The kindness of caring folks, funded my immediate dentures, very recently. I'm still documenting my entire personal journey for that.
A very kind & thoughtful person on the fabulous zeroes.ca instance, bought me these two very useful items to help me stress less over dental extractions appointment. They arrived today! I am so grateful for the thoughtful generosity & kindness of strangers
Of *course* #OpenStreetMap supports filtering by "Outdoor Seating" (Google's useless Maps has the data, but why would Google allow you to search for it!).
Has anyone considered adding a https://publichealthpledge.com/badging based attribute to venues, esp for ventilation/CO2 monitoring/Far-UVC etc?
It'd be amazing to be able to filter venues by that. Not just because of the current pandemic but in general.
New COVID-conscious friends and dating app just dropped!
Today, a friend from back east, who recently had #Covid ,posted on Facebook asking how long it will take for their smell and taste to return to normal.
I responded that it varies, but she should inform her doctor of her continuing issue with smell and taste distortion/absence because #LongCovid is a real risk, and the more her doctor knows, about her symptoms, the better.
She replied with "long covid?".
My friend, who has now had #Covid19 twice, didn't know what long covid is.
I explained it to her, and she was grateful for the info. I told her she's at risk for another infection, and the only way to prevent that is #LayersOfProtection , including wearing a #Mask .
I've no clue if she will implement more robust #CovidSafety , but at least she knows now.
