“In solitary confinement, many prisoners suffer from mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar, and psychosis that are exacerbated by prolonged isolation. Those suffering from schizophrenia and other mental diseases are target practice for the Tasers on a daily basis.” https://www.texasobserver.org/an-inside-look-at-taser-use-in-texas-prison/
A new study released for World Sleep Day on Friday finds that, on average, people in Japan get the least sleep among surveyed nations but may have the most regular sleep cycles. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2025/03/14/japan/science-health/sleep-day-japan-least/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #japan #sciencehealth #health #sleep #surveys #mentalhealth
It's always disturbing to me how many #homeless people support #trump which you think would never happen, why would someone with nothing support a manic billionaire?
Unfortunately delusional thinking is very prevalent. Homeless tend to be three main groups-
1. #mentalhealth issues that nobody helped.
2. #disabled folks, older, with no family or support.
3. #addiction related.
It's really easy to manipulate the first two groups.
That is all Trump does.
When I first signed up for therapy, it was for an 8 week course on anxiety management through mindfulness techniques. It has been quite helpful at times, but also makes me have to to arrange my Wednesdays around it every week so when we finished the course today I was kind of hoping that'd be the end.
Welp, immediately my counselor started talking about what course we want to do next which is gonna be one on depression I guess. It is good for me, but sometimes annoying.
I just migrated here from SecondUniverse@neurodifferent.me, so as a quick introduction... I am a trans woman. I transitioned back in the nineties before the world declared war on us. I was diagnosed with autism in my fifties, and more recently I have self diagnosed myself as having CPTSD. I post about astronomy, game development, trans issues, mental health, autism, and writing. #trans #actuallyAutistic #writing #mentalHealth #gameDev

Radio 4 discussion on the sharp rise (since Covid) in mental health issues in young people.
Repeatedly panel members say "we don't understand what is going on"
No mention of the absolute toxic mess the older generations have made of the planet, the environment, and politics, the increasing pressures to look a certain way, the increasing amounts we have to pay for the basics of life, the pressure to buy more and more stuff....
How can anyone take such a discussion seriously?
The growing sickness benefits bill seems largely the result of the rise in those claiming due to mental health difficulties.
This is partly due to the lack of capacity in the health services to treat patients in a timely manner;
partly to changes in the social experience (linked to a recent shift to information capitalism?);
and partly to better diagnosis of mental health issues.
But one thing is clear: budget cuts are not the solution!
