Three swans are flying towards us, side by side, wings fully extended. Because we are shooting through branches with a short depth of field, the image is picking up soft pinks to blend with the soft grey of the snowy sky.

The swans with the darker heads and necks are juveniles.

Four swans are in flight, wings outstretched. The one at the bottom of the formations is pure white with a black beak and feet; the 3 above have greyish heads and necks. Behind them, we can see trees and shrubs in soft focus, in their winter nakedness but their branches are still showing colour: reds, yellows, browns. The sky is a dull grey. The white of the swans seems luminous, the snowy ground below acting as a soft box, reflecting light back up on them.
