Der Kopf der Statue wurde schon vor 100 Jahren entdeckt. Nun können Experten die Skulptur ergänzen: Die fehlenden Teile wurden in der Angkor-Tempelanlage in Kambodscha ausgegraben.

Ebenfalls vor der Haustüre: der kleine Buddha meditiert in der Sonne. Es ist heute schon aussergewöhnlich frühlingshaft hier; 18 Grad in der Sonne auf 1'000m.ü.M. ist schon etwas warm für die Jahreszeit. Aber schön ist es trotzdem und es fühlt sich gut an. Vorfreude auf den Frühling!

Shozenji Temple openly welcomes the LGBTQ community and was started by Soshuku Shibatani, the first #transgender nun in #Japan. Built based on the belief that gender distinction doesn't exist before #Buddha, and that all should be able to live as themselves, this safe space is friendly to all.

For Buddhists any experience, no matter how pleasant, if it's short of awakening, it is in the end "unsatisfactory" (often translated "suffering").
The #Buddha put it this way in his famous diagnostic formula:
There's the truth of unsatisfactoriness.
The truth of the origin of unsatisfactoriness.
The truth of its cessation.
And the truth of a path to that cessation.
Those are the Buddha's Four Ennobling Truths.
And fully appreciating the nature of experience is to effect awakening.
