Just re-upped some previous Otaku Elf pics I posted. Including an attempt at recreating a cover in Animal Crossing.
It's a fun, chill series.
When I first got into it, I told my kids the name and they first thought I said "Taco Elf" and, honestly, I'd read that series if it were real.
New Read - Otaku Elf, Volume 8
Every volume of Otaku Elf flies by. Not a lot happens. it's a slice of life series about a geeky elf who is the local deity for a small temple and her miko (Shrine Maiden). It's day to day life of the elf not wanting to go out much, playing games, talking about her past as she has lived a long, long life, and day to day stuff of our miko as she is in school.
It's a mix of Japanese history lesson with about their culture in the past with slice of life.
It's very chill. And I appreciate that.
Anyway, enjoyed it. Will probably enjoy Volume 9 whenever it drops.
#animangafoundit @apc I'm sure this week's challenge will feature all sorts of grand builds, but Elda constructing her latest Gongem model kit is a fun moment from Otaku Elf, and serves as a reminder that a small personal project can be satisfying for yourself.

Picked up a physical copy of Otaku Elf on Blu ray. Took a gamble on whether it would work in the UK, as the disc is supposedly locked to the US region. It turns out that due to some weird rules, certain US region A discs will work on B & C players outside of their licenced territory (yeah, don't ask, as it boggles my mind).
Long story short, the disc works fine on my UK player! (I'd still recommend checking online before buying an expensive disc if you're unsure)

So, I decided to take a stab at recreating another manga cover in Animal Crossing
This time, I went with Otaku Elf, Volume 6. I figured I could try to get the angle and the room setup with Gloria and Shino serving as Koito and Elda, respectively.
Making the screenshot LOOK like a manga cover was...harder. But, I like it!
If only I had any Photoshop skills at all...
Otaku elf is real, guys.
They're adding roombas to clean the Kanda Shrine. The shrine in the manga/anime is an amalgamation of various IRL shrines, but this is one of them.
In the middle of watching #OtakuElf which reminds me a lot of Himouto! Umaru-chan. Both characters being unexpected otaku/nerds/secret hikkikomori
I enjoy stuff like this for the most part. It's relatable, enjoyable, and I get a giggle in a "heeeeyyy I do that thing too!" way. Very light and inconsequential #anime though. But sometimes you want to turn your brain off and just go "hehehehehe blorbos".
