California’s coldest storm system of the winter approaches, as atmospheric river takes aim

A major winter storm, fueled by a renewed atmospheric river, will bring heavy rain and mountain snow to both Northern and Southern California on Wednesday and Thursday.

Heavy rain and gusty winds will impact Wednesday’s commute around the Bay Area, while several feet of snow will begin piling up in the Sierra, including Tahoe.

By Wednesday evening and into Thursday morning, showers and thunderstorms will linger locally, while the pulse of heavy precipitation will shift southward, bringing several inches of rain and mountain snow to Central and Southern California. #weather #CAwx #SFBA

I’m always deeply suspicious of #SanFrancisco news stories where companies claim that the city let “the meth addicts and homeless take over”, and that’s why they’re closing.

The Market claimed they went from $60k/day in income in 2019 to $2,300/day today, and it’s because of dwindling foot traffic, remote work (of course) and homeless people and drug addicts.

I simply don’t buy it. A 97% drop in your income can’t simply be blamed on druggies and remote workers. I bet the story is more complex than that, and it’s a shame that SFGate took them at their word.

This narrative is too often repeated and has become suspiciously convenient. #sfba

For those eating gluten-free (and those, like me, who just want something delicious): I've recently discovered Sweet Sydney's. I've had the chocolate chip brownies and the lemon bar, and both were wonderful — and very rich.

I’ve started wearing various brimmed hats to save my ears from sunburn, and I’ve grown to like them.

When my city makes the news, I wish it weren't because of bird flu. Tennessee is entirely indoors, so it shouldn't affect him. But bad news for our local birds and stray cats.

My NOAA weather radio has broadcast three severe thunderstorm warnings this afternoon — none for my city, but close! 70 mph gusts possible just north of me in Pacifica, along with heavy rain.

We've got a lot of rain and wind here, too, but not quite as bad as that.
