Salish Sea Sunrise - I worked another hour on this piece today for a total of eight hours.

I'm still waiting for the new paints (various purples) and brushes (thin ones for details) so I'm doing what I can in the areas that don't need the new supplies.

Initial work was on the chicken's comb, using red and red mixed with green for the part of the comb that is in shadow. Also more work on the whites of the hen's eyes and the initial layer of grays for her cardigan (neutral gray, titanium white, and payne's gray)

Magenta used on the clouds, the hen's shirt, and the reflections on the water. As with the comb, green was used to create the shadowed bits of her shirt.

I don't usually photograph the sunrise or sunset but how could I ignore such a spectacular sunrise over the Salish Sea, last week?

Fluffy clouds filling up to 90% of the composition. At the bottom, we can see the sea and small mountains. The photo was taken at sunrise so the clouds have a variety of hues from yellow, pink, orange and some are dark. There is a little bit of the blue sky visible between the big fluffy clouds.

Cold day at what appears to be a tropical beach. It has all the beauty of the colourful tones of the sea in those tropical climes. Large Arbutus provides unnecessary shade on this crushed shell beach. ❤️

This was the Salish Sea this morning with Vancouver Island in the background. All I could hear were bald eagles and sea lions. No humans around but me.
