This movie is Fine. It's perfectly Fine. As long as you can almost completely ignore that it is Star Trek (this is VERY easy).
It's like a live action Rick and Morty episode, one of the big-bitch big-budget episodes you know the ones. Hell it's basically the heist episode with less meta.

So.... #Section31 was.... Well it there...
I guess most of its flaws are shared by all modern Trek films, and action sci-fi generally. Yet it's uniquely instantly forgettable.
But for the most part... Meh. I don't hate is by virtue of having very low expectations. And hey, there was only a *small* endorsement of torture so by modern TV that's not bad.
I don't love it because what is there to love? It's pretty generic and incredibly disconnected the world, ethos and style of the franchise. Just a mediocre action film that happens to be loosely connected to Trek.
Tempted to write another post with actual spoiler discussion but not even sure what to say about this besides how underused certain characters are. Which stinks of development hell behind it tbh.
I'm sure the execs are happy with it. They're the only ones who wanted it.

I watch The Animated Series. Willingly. As an enjoyable experience.
I like Star Trek V. There, I said it.
Insurrection is *actually* one of my top 2 favorite Star Trek movies (You can ask @ater they'll tell you.)
There is no Trek I won't watch, and I'm tired of pretending there is.

The official region-free Star Trek Section 31 trailer and poster are out. This trailer looking much more polished (unsurprisingly) than the teaser released previously.
Georgiou’s space station looks marvellous! Not at all in the classic Starfleet mushroom style. Original, not just another ring or cylinder. Like the DS9 design, something to give station model lovers something to dream of adding to their collections for the next few decades.
@virtualbri assuming you and your team were on this project too. It looks incredible! Sets a high bar for Star Trek streaming original movies.

In other "Star Trek" news, Paramount+ has set a premiere date for the movie "Star Trek: Section 31", starring Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh - January 24, 2025, in the US and global markets where the service is available.
I've just spotted a Cheronian (aka Cheron native) seen in the background in the Star Trek: Section 31 trailer, the black and white (or white and black) species from Star Trek: TOS episode "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield".
I guess more than these two survived?
