Ariel Bobcat, who is doing very well for a 15-year-old, shows no signs of arthritis but has considerable muscle atrophy. She weighs 18.4 lbs, which is a good weight for her, although she has lost a little since her last exam, which is normal for her age.

In our recent episode, I learned that a #bobcat & a Canadian #lynx can reproduce (creating a hybrid called a Blynx)!

And, uh, well, we should prob leave them alone (you know, since scientists put a tracking collar on one too tightly in 2003 and it starved to death 😢 )

PROTECT. THE. BLYNX.

Harriet the Lizard likes to sit on the threshold at the top of the stairs and survey her domain.

A minute ago, she suddenly bolted over to her stuffed chair, leapt up to the top and scooted down to the narrow space in back where it hits the wall. That is her safe hiding place.

I asked her, out loud "What's up, did you see a predatory bird or something?"

A few seconds later, this character sauntered across the yard. So not only do I have a lizard friend, I have an alarm lizard!

Past couple of days have been hot, even for Texas standards. 108°F (42°C for those who use a more sensible metric than the people in this country).

So many non-human animals are appreciating the water we have available for them. Even the bobcat who we saw yesterday returned!

If you can recommend a better wildlife water trough, please share it with us. We want to help our small and big local wildlife the best we can.

This bobcat was hunting at a road construction site. There were some parked trucks behind a wooden fence and I lost sight of the cat in between the trucks, so I stuck my camera lens through a hole in the fence to see if I could spot him, using the fence as a blind. I could only fit my 50mm lens through the hole. Suddenly he walked into the frame, looked straight into the lens, and calmly walked out of the frame again.
