Just because someone thinks they've got nothing to hide today doesn't mean that tomorrow they'll suddenly be in an "out" group and be targeted via the extensive #flock surveillance network. And that's just one of many private #surveillance networks that impacts our collective #privacy.

We've sleepwalked into an absolute privacy nightmare that most people just don't understand.

It's incredible the rate at which we've collectively given up our #privacy to exist without constantly being tracked and monitored. In about two years we went from it being relatively hard to track an individual if they didn't carry a cell phone and had a car older than about 2010 to knowing where every car is within a pretty tight radius. And I'm sure the license plate readers the cop cars and meter maids have around here are tied into the #flock network somehow.

Yesterday driving through #LosBanos #California I noticed what looks like new license plate reader cameras on the east end of town on highway 152. I'm not sure if they're a new version of #Flock cameras or a competitor. They were getting power from the stoplight pole (no solar panel) and they were rectangular black boxes horizontally oriented (long side on the horizontal) with sharp corners. They appeared to be about the size of a pocket dictionary (1 in thick, 5 in long, maybe 3 in wide).

Snowy Egrets Low Flight Over the Lake by Debra Martz
A flock of "Snowies" took flight from a nearby shoreline on a late-summer morning. The morning light provided those lovely white reflections on the water and the glow of the vegetation. Tall trees, not seen in this image, shade the right side of the water.
