Indicates a possible bug somewhere in the Mastodon code. Suspected is a way to abuse the account migration feature. @Gargron @MastodonEngineering are you aware?

Ich bin dem User dann gleich entfolgt. Der User ist vor drei Tagen beigetreten (26.02.2025) und hat bereits 46.000 Follower, eine Anzahl, die meiner Vermutung nach auf technischen Wege entstanden sein muss.

If you're setting up a new Fediverse server, you may run into technical difficulties if you re-use a subdomain or domain from a server that has now closed. More info about this at:
TL:DR - You can avoid technical problems by always using a brand new subdomain whenever you set up a new Fediverse server. It's okay to be the subdomain of a previously used domain, as long as the subdomain itself is new.

Meanwhile, the admin responded and clarified the situation. It was a configuration mistake. #antifa was auto blocked because of spam (if I got this correctly?) and #NoAfD basically for the same reason. The latter, however, wasn't resolved that fast because it has never been reported. Which is believable because it's super German specific.

@nadia@raru.reHas someone developed, and ideally written up a strategy to load test fedi servers?
I'd like to know which endpoints should I hammer to reproduce the two classic scenarios:
1. Post reblogged by fedistar, one gazillion instances want to get it
2. One or few instances publish a gazillion events to your inbox
... but in a way that has controlled side-effects, i.e. that only a sandbox account is in scope for the test and that the test does not leave trash in the DB as a result.
Has someone done this?

Hello Fediverse! I've just finished setting up my own private #Akkoma instance, let's see how this goes.
I chose Akkoma because of its features and because it requires a lot less resources than e.g. Mastodon and is therefore a bit more sustainable.
It was pretty easy to setup via Docker.
Let me know if you have any tips for setting up the server. Specifically, are there any blocklists I should be aware of or other important settings?

I would like to give a massive hug and big shout-out to @neil , who is putting in incredible amounts of effort to understand Octom's OSA (Online Safety Act) and to figure out how it applies to the fediverse, and then relaying that information to us.
If you're an instance admin - even if you're not based in the UK, but *especially* if you are based in the UK - follow him, give him lots of treats, and generally inundate him with adulation.
