If you post something in a different language, say French & your usual language is English

Then you can change the post language to match what you post

On Tusky there's a language indicator at the top, click that & you can change the post language, it may be in a different place on other apps

This means other readers who's own post language doesn't match your post get a 'translate' option when reading it

Oh punaise ! Je viens de découvrir un truc qu'il est super pratique.

Je savais qu'on pouvait suivre un compte Mastodon via son flux RSS, avec une adresse du type :

Et je me suis demandé si c'était possible de ne suivre que les messages avec média (utile pour les œuvres d'un⋅e artiste). J'ai donc essayé ce type d'URL et ça fonctionne !

Tiny tip for windows 10 users:

You can reset your graphic card without closing apps by pressing
windows + ctrl + shift + B

This can fix small issues like monitors going randomly black.

Make sure to save your work first, just in case !

A tip for when it's cold outside…

When you get into a train, bus or car and take off your gloves, place them on your seat and sit on them for the duration of the ride. They will be comfortably warm when you put them on again to go outside.

La advertencia de contenido (content warning o CW) es para lo que es: ocultar mensajes que puedan resultar desagradables o invasivos. También para evitar espóiler está bien.
No tiene sentido usarlo para:
- Llamar la atención. ¡Eso no se hace, Hulio!
- Hablar de un tema en concreto (política, fútbol, etc). Para eso están las etiquetas. Quien no quiera leer de un tema, puede silenciar la etiqueta o palabras concretas.
- Avisar de un hilo largo. Para eso es mejor poner el primer post en público y el resto no listados. De esa manera, quien no quiera leerlo no tiene que tragarse el hilo entero.

¿Cómo tener nuestros stickers en muchas apps de charla y dispositivos? Descentraliza los stickers.

• Los stickers realmente son imágenes que si bien los parámetros de dimensiones, peso y calidad no están totalmente estandarizados si que suelen compartir muchas características entre sí y su uso sí es estándar.

Pero muchas apps y servicios suelen integrar su uso de forma cerrada dentro del mismo, lo que hace que tengamos unos stickers en tal lugar y en otro otros pero cuando queremos usar uno determinado (que va pegado a nuestra expresión) tenemos que pasarlo con muchos procesos o no podamos.

• Últimamente se ha visto teclados que traen acceso a stickers para solventar esto pero siguen estando cerrados a ese teclado, es entonces dónde entra “Ewesticker”, una app de teclado diferente, que nos permite tener un control de nuestros stickers y usarlos en diferentes apps de charla, nosotres elegimos la carpeta base de dónde tomara los stickers (), esta puede tener más carpetas que serán tomados por la app como packs de stickers y así tenemos ese sticker favorito en diferentes aplicaciones,

pero ¿cómo hago para tener rápido, fácil e intuitivamente mis stickers favoritos en mis diferentes diapositivos? Es dónde hace equipo y entra “Synthing”, este un programa para sincronizar archivos, es decir, no solo stickers sino que cualquier cosa, vinculamos los dispositivos, agregamos carpetas, elegimos compartirlas y todos los archivos van a estar en todos los dispositivos, borramos algo en la carpeta compartida se borra en los demás, agregamos o modificamos en uno, en los demás también pues se sincroniza, no es una nube, sino que conecta tus dispositivos, tus archivos solo están en tus dispositivos, como tener una copia en varios lados sincronizada, sabiendo esto, creamos nuestra carpeta a sincronizar de Stickers y la compartimos con nuestros dispositivos con Synthing y en los dispositivos #Android en las configuraciones de Ewesticker escogemos esa carpeta como la ruta que va tomar la app para buscar stickers.

You know you can use your mouse and keyboard between different Macs using Universal Control and copy/paste between them (which makes it really easy when manually migrating settings, etc., between machines), but did you know you can also copy/paste whole files using Terminal:

On the first Mac:

cat my-file.txt | pbcopy

On the second Mac:

pbpaste > my-file.txt

Piping to pbcopy is something you’ll likely find useful in general.

(You can also drag/drop files to Finder.)
