Apparently steel gets brittle from cold at much higher temperatures than I previously thought. It was maybe -12°C when I broke several bits (from different sets/makes) in a row before giving up. Some of these had driven hundreds of screws before, so they weren't made of cheese.

Ants Pants mentioned this in a video and I didn't believe it because I thought cold embrittlement wasn't a thing until -70°C or thereabouts. 🤷

I send thanks to the buyer from Alabama who purchased a throw pillow of

The Warming -- 2-steve-henderson.pixels.com/f

Not only a fire on a cold day, but true friendship and genuine community -- in a world sought to be ruled by technocrats and corporations -- is warming. May you find both, and may the image on the pillow take you to a good place.

My boots I got for cheap in 2019 have reached a point where they cannot keep much water out any more. My feet are cold and wet inside these and I need to replace them. Please consider helping our #Mutualaid fund ($521/$1000 for this week) so I can get new boots! (Edit: funds earmarked for the boots specifically have now been received but we still have plenty else on our list of needs, check out ko-fi.com/athakitsune )

This is what the top of the mountain looks like in February at Sun Peaks in BC, Canada. It's cold out there!

Sometimes I feel like the chairlifts take us to snowy mountain places where humans weren't meant to go, because we would never survive if there weren't an easy way in and out. On the other hand, snowboarding is one of the greatest thrills and I'm so glad I get to do it!
